Amenities

Lake Monticello offers a plethora of amenities to its residents, among them…. Something unique about Lake Monticello and the amenities it offers: they are ongoing. At a meeting in the Summer of 2008, ideas for adding and/or improving amenities for residents started being pitched around. Ideas included a gym at the clubhouse, sidewalks on Jefferson and a trail system, picnic area and ballpark on 35 acres near the campground the Lake Monticello Owners’ Association may acquire in a land swap with the county.

Golf Course and Pro Shop

Lake Monticello’s 18-hole championship length, par 72 golf course is ideal for golfers of all skill levels. The course was thoughtfully designed more than three decades ago by Buddy Loving to take advantage of the natural contours and features of Piedmont Virginia’s lovely rolling landscape. The 6,925 yard course features four sets of tees. Tees and fairways are predominantly Bermuda grass, with bent grass greens. Fairways are open, but there are out-of-bounds, woods, bunkers and/or water on every hole. Lake Monticello welcomes public play; golf membership and community residency are not required. Lake Monticello will be pleased to host your golf tournaments.

Lake Monticello is host to the annual Falconer Invitational, one of the top five amateur tournaments in Central Virginia. Entry through main gate off St. Rt. 618.

Tennis Courts

There are six hard-surfaced tennis courts. Four are located at the Clubhouse on Ashlawn Boulevard and two are located at Lafayette Park. Tennis memberships are available for members, and their guests may pay and play on a daily basis. For more information, call the Administration Office at (434) 589-8263, extension 113.

Dining Facilities

The Eagles Nest Snack Bar is located on the upper level of the Pro Shop (434) 589-3512. Seasonal hours for the Eagles Nest are as follows: Labor Day – Memorial Day, 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Memorial Day – Labor Day, 7:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Year-round evening hours – open 5 to 8 p.m. for Monday Madness, Terrific Tuesday and Wacky Wednesday with good food at reasonable prices. (Seasonal changes may be made to this schedule as needed. Call for current schedule).

The Poolside Snack Bar is located adjacent to the pool house. Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day during pool hours of operation.

Clubhouse

The Clubhouse is an ideal venue for meetings and social events of all sizes and types, from the small and simple to large, elegant and formal. Arrangements may be made for meetings or social events with or without food by calling (434) 589-8263, ext 101.

Lake and Marina

The LMOA recently met (June 2008) to discuss plans for the construction of a new marina building. The current building is about 30 years old and used to hold Emergency Service vehicles for the community. A new marina is to be constructed on the same site, providing more space, current technologies and a picnic pavilion (set apart from the main structure) for all residents to use.

Pool

The swimming pool is located at the Clubhouse and adjacent to the Main Beach. Individual and family memberships and trip books are available, or members and their guests may pay on a daily basis. The pool is open from Memorial Day weekend (weather permitting) and closes Labor Day weekend. The Poolside Snack Bar serves light and snack food during the operation of the pool.

Open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Contact the Administration Office at (434) 589-8263 or the Pool office at (434) 589-3165 for hours of operation, membership and daily fees, or other information.

Recreational Activities

Basketball courts are located at the Clubhouse. Playgrounds with picnic facilities are located on Ashlawn Boulevard, near the Clubhouse, at Bunker Ball Field and at Lafayette Park. Bunker Ball Field is designed for use as a softball or soccer field. Public restroom facilities are available at the Ashlawn playground. There are two horseshoe courts adjacent to the tennis courts at the Clubhouse.
